Men's golf No. 25

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas men’s golf team opened the spring season ranked No. 25 in the first Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll.

This is the second poll where the Razorbacks are among the top 30 teams in the nation as they earned a No. 30 ranking by Golfstat.com. Arkansas earned 73 points in the Golf World/Nike Poll, breaking into the top 25 after ending the fall receiving votes.

Arkansas opened the spring season with a victory at the Redstone Challenge before facing some of the best teams in the nation at the Battle at the Beach where the Hogs finished second, just one stroke off the pace of the No. 11 team in the Golf World/Nike poll, UCLA. Arkansas is 3-1-1 head-to-head against top 25 teams in the poll.

Senior David Lingmerth is playing outstanding golf this season and won his first collegiate tournament at the Battle at the Beach by shooting a final round 64 to finish eight-under-par. Lingmerth has finished among the top 10 in six of seven tournaments played this season including the fall and been at par or better four times. His 70.59 stroke average leads the Razorbacks and his victory just a few weeks ago earned the Tranas, Sweden native Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honors.

The Razorbacks return to the course on March 5, when they travel to the Laredo Country Club to participate in the Border Olympics.
