Midweek Report: Week 10

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Each week during the season, the Midweek Report will serve as a recap of the previous week of action for Arkansas Soccer, while previewing the week ahead and keeping up with national rankings and individual accolades.

Week 10 Recap

Arkansas split its two remaining home matches during the previous week, defeating Missouri 1-0 on Oct. 20, but falling to Kentucky 2-1 on Oct. 23 at Razorback Field to land at 14-4-0 overall on the season and 7-3-0 in Southeastern Conference play.

The Razorbacks’ seven conference wins are a program record, surpassing the six wins set during head coach Colby Hale’s inaugural season in 2012.

Rankings Watch

Arkansas fell to No. 23 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll released on Tuesday. The team would retain its third place standing in the NSCAA NCAA Division I Women’s South Regional Poll, behind South Carolina and Auburn.

The NCAA also placed Arkansas No. 18 in the nation in its latest Rating Percentage Index rankings on Monday that take into account the team’s winning percentage and its opponents’ average winning percentage, among other factors.

The RPI plays a role in postseason NCAA Tournament bid selections and hosting opportunities.

Looking Ahead: LSU

Arkansas will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to face off against LSU on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. CT in the Razorbacks’ regular season finale.

The Tigers are paced by junior forward Jorian Baucom, who leads the team in goals (10), points (21), shots (47) and shots on goal (21).

LSU is 7-10-1 on the season and 2-7-1 in conference play.

The match will be streamed live on SEC Network+ via the WatchESPN app.

SEC Tournament

The Razorbacks will travel to Orange Beach, Alabama, on Monday, Oct. 31 to participate in their fourth SEC Tournament in five years under Hale’s tenure. Arkansas last played in the tournament two years ago, falling to Georgia 1-1 in double overtime on penalty kicks.

Home Support

After 10 home games, Arkansas ranks 11th in the nation in total attendance (13,657) – up one spot from the previous week – and 13th in average attendance (1,366). Within the conference, the Razorbacks are third in the SEC in total attendance – an increase by one spot compared to last week – and fifth in average attendance.

Stats Watch

As of Wednesday, Arkansas is ranked in the top 25 in the following categories by the NCAA: 16th in scoring offense, 19th in won-lost-tied percentage, 20th in assists per game, 19th in points per game, 15th in total assists, 11th in total goals, 11th in total points and 18th in shots per game.

Individually, Claire Kelley is No. 1 in the nation in assists per game and total assists.
