Midweek Report: Week 4

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Each week during the season, the Midweek Report will serve as a recap of the previous week of action for Arkansas Soccer, while previewing the week ahead and keeping up with national rankings and individual accolades.

Week 4 Recap

Arkansas won its two games last week, defeating Mississippi State 5-2 on Sept. 4 in the SEC opener and overcoming North Texas 1-0 on Sept. 11.

The Razorbacks would improve to 7-1-0 on the season and accomplish a historic milestone: The victory against the Mean Green was head coach Colby Hale’s 46th career win at Arkansas, enough to surpass Janet Rayfield as the winningest soccer coach in school history.

The win over Mississippi State extended Arkansas’ overall record against the Bulldogs to 19-3-0, including 4-1-0 during Hale’s tenure.

Looking Ahead: No. 4 Florida

Arkansas will host the No. 4-ranked and reigning Southeastern Conference champions Florida (5-1-0) on Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.

The Gators are riding a three-game win streak paced by three-time All-American and two-time SEC Offensive Player of the Year senior forward Savannah Jordan, who leads the team in goals (6), assists (7) and points (19).

The match will be streamed live on SEC Network+.

Looking Ahead: Lipscomb

Arkansas will have a quick turnaround following a tough conference match against No. 4 Florida by facing off against Lipscomb (6-1-1) for the first time in program history on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m.

The Bison are 2-1 this season against SEC opponents, defeating Vanderbilt 2-0 on Aug. 21 and Mississippi State 1-0 on Aug. 26, while falling to Ole Miss 3-1 on Aug. 28.

Lipscomb was picked to finish second in the Atlantic Sun Conference during the preseason but is currently in first place in league standings.

Freshman forward Olivia Doak leads the team in goals (6), points (12), shots (20) and shots on goal (13).

Home Support

With four home games in the books, Arkansas ranks 14th in the nation in total attendance (5,850) and fifth in the SEC. In average attendance, Arkansas ranks 13th in the nation (1,485) and fourth in the SEC.

Stats Watch

As of Thursday, Arkansas is ranked in the top 25 in the following categories by the NCAA: Eighth in scoring offense, 10th in points per game, eighth in total assists, fourth in total goals, sixth in total points, 15th in assists per game and 16th in won-lost-tied percentage.

Within the SEC, after one game, Arkansas is tied for the league lead in points (14), assists (4) and assists per game (4) while holding a first place edge in goals (5), goals per game (5) and corners (9).

Individually, senior Claire Kelley is third in the nation in total assists and 13th in assists per game.

Freshman Kayla McKeon is ranked 38th in the nation in goals per game, 19th in total goals, 31st in total points and tied for 30th in game-winning goals along with senior Lindsey Mayo.

Single-game tickets are $5 and free for children 17 and under. Gates open one hour prior to kickoff.
