Miseviciute claims National Indoor Championship Lady'Backs close out fall season

COLUMBUS, Ohio – University of Arkansas junior Aurelija Miseviciute dominated once again, leading her to the singles title on Sunday at the National Indoor Championships.

“We’re all thrilled for Aurelija and her tremendous effort all week,” said Lady Razorback head coach Michael Hegarty. “She battled through four matches that went to three sets, and credit J.J. (assistant coach Jeroen Joling) for a great job of coaching and keeping her focused.”

Miseviciute, ranked No. 119 nationally, claimed the titled by defeating No. 21 Ani Mijacika of Clemson, 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (3), closing singles action for the fall season.

At the SEC Coaches’ Classic the rest of the Lady’Back tennis team closed out their fall season with doubles action on Sunday.

Junior Nanar Airapetian and sophomore Melissa Hoffmeister dropped their doubles match, 9-7, to Auburn’s Heather Bybee and Dunja Duranovic.

The other pair of Lady’Backs competing on Sunday was senior Audrey Bordeleau and freshman Delia Demaschin as they defeated Renee Joseph and Radka Ferankova of Mississippi State, 8-4.

“It was good to play more competitive doubles matches today,” Hegarty said. “I am very pleased with the way our team has played this fall, now we are looking forward to working hard and improving during the off season.”
