Moore Named SEC Golfer Of The Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Following his third straight top 10 finish to open the spring season, Arkansas junior Taylor Moore earned his second SEC Golfer of the Week honor of the season on Wednesday, announced by the league office.

A Razorback has won the last three SEC Golfer of the Week awards, as Moore’s first of the season came after the opening spring tournament while junior Kolton Crawford garnered the award last week. Moore has now earned the weekly honor three times in his career.

Moore was Arkansas’ top finisher for the second time this spring and the third time in the last four events at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate, tying for eighth place (72-69-69/210) out of a field of 70 that featured 21 players ranked in the Golfstat top 100. Highlighted by a bogey-free two-under 69 in the second round and followed up with another 69 in the final round, Moore finished at three-under 210 and has now shot 72 or lower in 10 straight rounds dating back to the end of the fall.

After closing the fall by playing his final two events at a combined five-under, Moore has carried that momentum over to the spring where he sports a 69.9 stroke average through nine rounds. Over three spring tournaments, Moore has been Arkansas’ low-man seven times and has six under-par rounds.

Moore’s recent run has him up to No. 46 in the Golfweek individual ranking and No. 59 by Golfstat. The Edmond, Okla. native leads the team and ranks sixth in the SEC with a stroke average of 71.4 for the year while finishing in the top 20 in six of seven tournaments, including four top 10s. Moore leads Arkansas with 10 under-par rounds and has a counting score in 20 of 21 rounds, including 17 in a row.

Arkansas has had a solid start to its busy spring schedule that features six tournaments before SEC Championships. The Razorbacks finished second at the SunTrust Gator Invitational and fourth at the Bayou City Collegiate en route to moving up to No. 34 in Golfstat’s latest ranking and No. 35 by Golfweek.
