FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. —University of Arkansas sophomores Gabriela Lopez and Taylor Moore earned Southeastern Conference Women’s and Men’s Golfer of the Week honors the league office announced today. It is believed to be the first time in program history Razorback men’s and women’s student-athletes swept the weekly honor. Moore, an Edmond, Okla., native, also led his team to the tournament title at the Gator Invitational. He tied as Arkansas’ top finisher in the spring opener with a fourth-place showing in the 75-player field. Moore shot an even-par 210 with rounds of 71-71-68. Moore was just one of five players in the field to finish even or below par and was third amongst the field in par three scoring. He was the team leader with 38 pars over the two-day tournament. Moore finished even-par or lower on the back nine in all three rounds and on the front nine in two rounds. The top 10 finish was the third in six events this season for Moore. The No. 19 Razorback men resume the spring schedule Feb. 21-23, at the Bayou City Collegiate Championship at the Golf Club of Houston.
Lopez, a Mexico City, Mexico, native, is coming off a third-place finish leading the No. 5 Razorback women’s golf team to the team title at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico. Lopez finished with a two-under 214 as Arkansas led the event wire-to-wire. She posted a four-under 68 in the second round en route to the strong finish. The team title was the second of the season for the Razorbacks and the fourth top five finish in five events this season. Arkansas continues the spring season March 7-9, at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
