VICTORIA, British Columbia — University of Arkansas sophomore diver Kesha Naylor did not take long to establish herself at the Canadian Winter Diving Championships on Thursday, placing tenth in the preliminary platform competition to clinch an automatic qualification for the Canadian Olympic Trials in June of 2012.
Razorback diving coach Dale Schultz had remarked prior to the championships that Naylor hoped for a top-ten performance against some of the best divers in Canada. Her five dives on Thursday earned a score of 263.95 to earn that top-ten distinction.
"That’s the best she’s ever looked on tower," said Schultz, who has worked specifically with the Razorbacks on platform this season to prepare for postseason meets.
Naylor continues her competition at the Canadian Winter Diving Championships with the preliminary session of the three-meter dive on Friday. The championships continue through Sunday, Dec. 18. For more information about Razorback swimming and diving, please log on to ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
