Naylor shines at Canadian Senior Nationals

FAYETTEVILLE – Freshman diver Kesha Naylor competed in the Canadian Senior Nationals in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where she finished eighth in the prelims of the three-meter event and 15th overall on the platform.

Representing her home club in Saskatoon, Naylor grabbed the 15th spot on the platform with a mark of 242.55 in the five-dive competition. She came back on the three-meter board to place eighth in the prelims with 286.30, just one point behind former Razorback and fellow Canadian Mandy Moran. Meaghan Benfeito was first on the tower, with the top-two in each event qualifying for the Pan American Games Trials.

In the finals round of the three-meter competition, Naylor finished with a score of 265.50 after a series of five dives, good for 11th overall. After finishing just one point ahead of Naylor in prelims, Moran went into the finals to place fifth. Emilie Heymans was first in the three-meter with a five-dive score of 354.90.

The 2010 Summer Senior Nationals brought out the 83 of the top Canadian divers from 20 different clubs. During the 2010-11 season, Naylor topped Moran’s record holding mark of 344.00 on the three-meter board (six dives), which stood since 2003.
