FAYETTEVILLE – Freshman diver Kesha Naylor is set to compete in the Canadian Senior Diving National Championships in Edmonton, Alberta, June 3-4. The Canada native strives to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Trials at the championship meet. The competition also serves as the Pan American Games Trials.
The meet marks Naylor’s first competition in the senior division for the platform. She finished seventh on the platform at the 2011 Southeastern Conference Championships and broke the Arkansas record at the Drury dual with a mark of 286.43.
Naylor will compete on the platform on June 4 and the three-meter board on Sunday, June5. The 2011 Winter Senior Nationals Standard for the three meter is 235 and 220 for the platform. The 2011 summer standards move up 10 points for the 3m and 25 points for the platform.
Naylor is the only Razorback and the only member of the SEC competing in Canada at the meet, but will compete against former Razorback standout Mandy Moran. During the 2010-11 season, Naylor bested Moran’s record holding mark of 344.00 on the 3m board, which stood since 2003.
