NCAA Zones Await Four Arkansas Divers

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Four Arkansas divers are set to compete in the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships, starting Monday, March 6 in Columbia, Missouri, at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

“The divers have worked hard the past two weeks, following the SEC Championships,” said diving coach Dale Schultz. “I am really looking forward to having them compete over the next three days. Nicole Gillis has had very strong practices since we’ve arrived and I expect her to have a good meet.”

Gillis, sophomore Marissa Green, sophomore Molly Harvie and freshman Caroline Welch are each competing in the 1m, 3m and platform dives.

Looking to continue her impressive junior campaign on the boards, Gillis notched three of the top four scores in school history this year in the 1m springboard, including the top two. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native claimed 20 of the team’s 27 Zone scores this season with 11 on the 1m dive, eight on the 3m and one on the platform. Gillis holds the top-five scores on the 1m and 3m on the team and three of the top four on the platform. In her most recent performance, Gillis advanced to the 3m final at the SEC Championships, finishing sixth in the conference with a score of 336.80.

Green’s only Zone score this season came in the opener against Drury. Off the 1m springboard, Green scored a lifetime-best 270.75. Harvie was strong on the platform for the Razorbacks this season, holding two of the top five scores on the team, including a career-best 226.00 in an exhibition dive against Kansas. Welch recorded a Zone score in the 3m, scoring a 287.70 against Kansas.
