History at the NCAA Championships
Lawson is the defending national indoor champion in the long jump, having captured last year’s title with a personal-best mark of 8.39m/27-6.5, the No. 5 performance in NCAA history. This weekend will mark his third-career appearance at the NCAA indoor meet. In addition to his championship effort in last year in Albuquerque, Lawson finished fourth in the event as a freshman in 2013. Arkansas have won a total of eight NCAA long jump indoor titles. Lawson was the fifth in program history to win the event, joining the list of Mike Conley (1984-85), Erick Walder (1992-94), Robert Howard (1997) and Melvin Lister (2000).
