Netters take two doubles wins at Navy

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback men’s tennis picked up two doubles wins at the Navy Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 13, in Annapolis, Md.

"We learned a lot today," head coach Robert Cox said. "We learned what it is like to play up. Our guys were playing out of position and they had to battle. We have some weaknesses to our game and they were exploited and exposed today. But now we know the key elements we need to work on."

In doubles play, Bradwin Williams and Nick Spinazze teamed up to take down David Kwon and Nicolai Nielsen of Maryland, 9-7. UA freshman Matt Walters paired with Oklahoma’s Chase Miller to top Jonathan Ribaste and Mathias Sarrazin of Maryland, 8-5.

"Doubles play was the shining moment for us today," Cox said. "We were good students of the game today. I like the open minds we had but I’m disappointed with the final results. We learned today and should be much better tomorrow."

In singles play, Williams fell to Andy Orban of Maryland, 7-5, 6-2. Spinazze was edged by Sarrazin of Maryland, 6-1, 6-1. Boris Fetbroyt of Maryland defeated Walters, 6-2, 6-0.

Play at the Navy Invitational will begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday. For more information on Arkansas Razorback men’s tennis, visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
