Netters Win Again at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – Two Arkansas seniors continued their winning ways Tuesday at the Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Matt Roberts and Adrians Zguns advanced for the second straight day, both notching straight-set wins. Roberts and Zguns are in the qualifying draw, and are each a win away from moving into the main draw which begins Thursday.

“(Matt and Adrians) both played solid,” Razorback Coach Robert Cox, “This is their first tournament and they are both already getting in a groove.”

Roberts, the nation’s 73rd-ranked player, posted his second consecutive straight-set victory, beating Louisville’s Jakob Gustafsson, 6-2, 6-4. The Little Rock product moves to 2-0 this fall.

Zguns, ranked No. 58, also recorded his second straight two-setter with a, 6-2, 6-4, triumph over Tulsa’s Will Grey. Zguns, of Liepaja, Latvia, also improves to 2-0.

Both players will be in action again on Wednesday, with Roberts taking on James Ludlow of Brigham Young and Zguns matching up with Tyler Browne of California. Fellow senior Rohan Gajjar, ranked No. 31, begins play Thursday in the main draw.
