Nine players named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes

FAYETTEVILLE – Nine members of the University of Arkansas 2005-06 softball team earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association Academic All-America Scholar-Athlete honors, the organization recently announced. Katy Henry, Dayna Huckabee, Kallie Foglesong, Hillary Freeman, Rachel LeMaster, Kayce Odle, Melinda O’Malley, Blaire Perry and Sarah Topham were recognized with grade point averages at 3.5 or better. “We’re real proud of our nine student-athletes for being honored,” said head coach Jamie Pinkerton. “They are the epitome of what a student-athlete is in college. It is that type of student-athlete that makes us successful both on and off the field.” The nine scholar-athletes were a major factor in the team award Arkansas softball received earlier this year. The Lady Razorbacks were No. 30 in the NFCA All-Academic Team Division I category. They earned a 3.27 team GPA, which ranked fourth among teams in the Southeastern Conference. Pinkerton has coached 27 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes in his career. For more information about Arkansas softball, log on to LADYBACKS.COM.
