No. 18 Hogs Drop 4-2 Decision to No. 26 Tennes
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A play-shortened weekend found the Hogs only completing one match during their SEC road swing over the weekend. The result was a 4-2 loss to No. 26 Tennessee.

The loss pushed the Volunteers to 8-5 and 2-3 in the SEC while Arkansas fell to 10-7 and 2-4 in league play.

In doubles, the Razorbacks once again lost the doubles point, being swept in all three matches. However, the Hogs number one doubles team did make it very close. Aleksey Bubis teamed with Eduardo Pacheco in a 9-8 loss to the no. 50 duo of Mark Dietrich and Wade Orr.

The number two match saw Rohan Gajjar and Talley Parker play Mark Henderson and Vincent Perna to an 8-4 loss. At number three, Matt Roberts and Adrians Zguns fell to Rawl Martin and Simon Rea, 8-6.

Singles saw the Razorbacks again respond with their backs to the wall. Getting behind by a score of 3-0, the Hogs clawed their way back into the match, 3-2, before the Tennessee squad clinched.

No. 31 Rea defeated Bubis at number one 6-2, 6-1, to give the Volunteers a 2-0 lead. Next off the court would be Gajjar as he fell to Orr in a 6-0, 6-3, final on court four to make the score 3-0. The Hogs would then respond as Roberts ousted Mark Henderson on court five, 6-0, 6-4, to give the Hogs a point, 3-1. Zguns would show up on court three winning a tough three-setter, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1, to put the Hogs within striking distance at 3-2. The match on court six would be the clincher as Hunter Benson put up a remarkable fight for the Razorbacks, but Tennessee’s Martin proved to be too strong, winning, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.

The Hogs will next play the Jacksonville University Dolphins on March 18, at 1 p.m., as part of their spring break road swing.
