No. 19 Arkansas Falls To No. 2 Georgia

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 19 Arkansas posted a valiant effort against No. 2 Georgia on Friday but fell in a 4-0 decision at George M. Billingsley Tennis Center.

The Razorbacks moved to 14-8 overall with a 4-6 record in Southeastern Conference play, while the Bulldogs improved to 15-3 overall with a 9-1 mark in conference action.

Georgia took the doubles point with wins at the No. 3 and No. 1 positions, respectively. At the clinch, Arkansas’ duo of junior Mia Jurasic and sophomore Ana Oparenovic led 4-3 at the second spot.

With a 1-0 lead, Georgia earned victories at the No. 2, No. 1 and No. 4 singles spots, respectively, en route to the team win. At the clinch, Arkansas junior Léolia Jeanjean was ahead 6-4, 3-4 at No. 3, and freshman Natsuho Arakawa was heading into a third set at No. 6. At No. 5, freshman Giulia Pairone was looking to push her match into a third set, leading 5-3 in the second set.

Arkansas will return to Billingsley Tennis Center at noon Sunday to take on No. 24 Tennessee. Sunday’s match will mark Senior Day for co-captains Hudson and Sasha Shkorupeieva. The duo will be recognized prior to the match. Doors open at 11 a.m., and the ceremony is slated to begin at approximately 11:50 a.m.
