No. 2 Razorbacks Post Two School Records at #PaytonJordan

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 2 University of Arkansas women’s track and field team tallied seven personal bests, two school records and an NCAA-leading performance Saturday at the Payton Jordan Invitational. Chrishuna Williams broke the program’s 10-year-old record at 800 meters while Dominique Scott improved her own school mark at 5,000 meters. All seven runners in action Saturday established a new career best.

In just the fourth 800-meter race of her outdoor career, Williams raced to victory in 2:01.61 to replace the previous mark of 2:01.91 set by two-time NCAA champion Aneita Denton in 2005. The Razorback senior also took more than two seconds off her previous personal best of 2:03.77 set earlier this season at the Stanford Invitational. Williams’ mark is the top time in the NCAA this season, based on times entering the weekend.

For the second time in as many races at Stanford this season, Scott set a school record with her time of 15:32.55 at 5,000 meters. In a field featuring top professionals, she finished 18th overall and second among collegians. Scott lowered her own 5K mark from 15:42.42 which she set at last year’s Mt. SAC Relays. Earlier this season, she established the school’s 10,000-meter record of 32:11.60 at the Stanford Invitational.

Arkansas’ first winner of the day was Regan Ward who began the parade of personal bests with a time of 10:13.29 to win section three of the 3,000-meter steeplechase. It was her third PR in the event this season with a 21-second improvement from her season-opening time of 10:34.29 at the Arkansas Spring Invitational.

The Razorbacks also collected personal bests from Rebekka Simko at 800 meters and the trio of Jessica Kamilos, Diane Robison and Therese Haiss at 1,500 meters. Simko was the runner-up in section three of the two-lap event with a time of 2:05.69 for her second PR in as many races. Kamilos finished third in her section in 4:16.31, nearly five seconds faster than her previous best. Running together in section four of the 1,500 meters, Robison and Haiss ran to career bests of 4:20.23 and 4:22.46, respectively.
