No. 3 Arkansas Caps Weekend on a High Note

AUSTIN, Texas/STANFORD, Calif. – The third-ranked Arkansas women’s track and field team had an exceptional final day of competition in Austin, Texas and Palo Alto, Calif. at the Texas Relays and Stanford Invitational, respectively.

The Razorbacks opened their day in Texas with a season’s best time of 44.59 in the 4×100-meter relay to finish sixth in the highly competitive event. Arkansas’s 400-meter relay performance was followed by a superb showing in the 100-meter hurdles off the heels of sophomore transfer Payton Stumbaugh.

An All-American 60-meter hurdler during the indoor season, Stumbaugh, raced to a runner-up finish at the Texas relays clocking career best 13.18 against the wind.

Fellow underclassman, Kiara Parker, also saw success on Saturday afternoon, as the highest-finishing freshman in the 100-meter dash. Parker matched her personal best time of 11.69 in the final section of the 100 placing fifth in her first outdoor road competition as a Razorback.

Off the track Razorback vaulters Ariel Voskamp, Lexi and Tori Weeks jumped to top-10 finishes in the A section of the pole vault. Lexi Weeks was the highest Razorbacks finisher in the event, placing sixth with a clearance of 4.30m/14-1.25. Voskamp and Tori Weeks both completed their days with clearances at 4.20m/13-9.25 – a season’s best for Voskamp.

Arkansas’s weekend at Mike A. Myers Stadium was completed with a runner-up finish in the 4×400-meter relay. Razorback team of Monisa Dobbins, Daina Harper, Brianna Swinton and Taylor Ellis ran 3:32.00, the 10th fastest performance in program history, to place second behind host school, Texas.

The last day of competition at the Stanford Invitational saw Arkansas middle distance trio of Therese Haiss, Nikki Hiltz and Ceara Watson in action in the 800-meter run. Hiltz and Watson dipped below 2:10 in their races running 2:09.08 and 2:08.04, respectively. Haiss completed the successful outing a Cobb Stadium with a season’s best performance of 2:12.57.

Arkansas will compete next at the Mt. SAC Relays and Texas Invitational on April 16.
