No. 3 Arkansas Set To Kick Off Outdoor At Home

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 3 Arkansas women’s track and field team will kick off its 2017 outdoor campaign this weekend in Fayetteville by hosting the Arkansas Spring Invitational at John McDonnell Field.

Teams making the trip to Northwest Arkansas this weekend include: Arkansas Baptist, Barton County, Central Missouri, Drake, Friends University, Iowa Central, Missouri State, Oklahoma State, South Dakota State, Tulsa and Wichita State.

As Arkansas continues to gradually transition from its indoor season head coach Lance Harter and his staff will ease the Razorbacks into competition, opting not to enter the majority of the roster in their trademark events. The meet will also mark the return of All-Americans Devin Clark and Payton Stumbaugh who missed the indoor season due to injuries.

Oregon transfer Ashlee Moore will be the first Razorback in action, taking on the heptathlon 100-meter hurdles on Friday at 12 p.m. The lone Hog in action on day one, Moore will have a full day of competition that will wrap up at 4:10 p.m. with the heptathlon 200.

Saturday will see All-American pole vault trio of Desiree Freier, Lexi Weeks and Tori Weeks open up on their home runway at 3:15 p.m.

The Arkansas Spring Invitational is the first of three home outdoor meets for Harter’s squad and will be followed by the highly anticipated, John McDonnell Invitational on April 21-22.
