No. 3 Razorbacks Target 20th Regional Title

Postseason Supplement 1

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Moving on from a strong showing at the SEC championships Arkansas women’s cross country team has shifted their focus to winning the program’s 20th NCAA South Central Regional title. The competition hosted by SEC rival Texas A&M will take place on the Dale Watts Cross Country course on Friday, Nov. 13.

The Razorbacks have won the last four regional championships to secure automatic bids to the national meet.

Arkansas hosted the 2014 meet which saw Dominique Scott become the first Razorback to win the individual title since Andreina Byrd in 2001. Scott improved from her 2013 runner-up finish to win by MORE THAN 20 seconds in her third regional championship. Already in the history books for a multitude of school and conference records the Capetown, South Africa native looks to join AN elite group of Razorbacks who’ve won back-to-back regional titles, including Deena Drossin Kastor, Megan Flowers and Lilli Kleinmann.
Arkansas is the only nationally ranked program in the region and has been the favorite since the preseason polls. Prior to conference championships Baylor was listed as their top contender but has since been replaced by SMU who finished second behind Tulsa in the American Athletic Conference Championships.

The women’s 6K will kick off at 10 a.m. CST with the men’s 10K following at 11: a.m. Awards will be presented immediately following the completion of both races.

The USTFCCCA will be providing a live stream of updates featuring pictures, results and splits on their National Results Wall. Fans can engage in the event using the hashtag #DIRegionals on social media.
