AUSTIN, Texas/STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 5 Arkansas men’s track and field team made the most out of their action-packed weekend collecting several competitive performances in Austin, Texas and Palo Alto, California at the Texas Relays and Stanford Invitational, respectively.

The Razorbacks picked up two Texas Relays event titles and eight top-five finishes at Mike A. Myers stadium in spite of poor weather conditions. On the final day of competition, two Razorback relay teams (4×200 and 4×800) raced to top-four performances wrapping up their successful weekend on the road. Arkansas’s best finish of the day came from 4×800-meter relay team of Cameron Griffith, Carlton Orange, Andrew Pisechko and Ryan Thomas who finished second behind Texas A&M in 7:26.52.

Coming off a solid Friday night showing which featured a wealth of talent from distance standouts Jack Bruce (5,000m), Alex George (5,000m) and Gabe Gonzalez (10,000m), freshman, Sam Kempka, threw to a new personal best of 17.08m/56-0.50 to place second in the collegiate section of the shot put at the Stanford Invitational. Kempka’s mark was just one inch shy of earning a spot on Arkansas’s all-time best list in the event.

Arkansas will break from competition next weekend, returning to action on April 16 at the Mt. SAC Relays and Texas Invitational.
