AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 5 Arkansas men’s track and field team kicked off their long weekend of competition with exceptional performances by two Razorbacks in the 400-meter hurdles at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the 2016 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
Sophomores Kemar Mowatt and Larry Donald both recorded sub-51 times out of heats seven and eight, respectively, to earn spots in Friday’s final section of the 400-meter hurdles.
The first of the two to compete, Mowatt, was the first to cross the line in heat seven with a new personal best time of 50.66. His performance was the second fastest of the day, behind only Randolph Bermea of University of Texas at San Antonio. A first-year Razorback, Mowatt’s new personal best places him seventh on Arkansas’s all-time best list.
Directly following Mowatt in competition, Donald, also earned a new lifetime best with a 50.90 performance in heat eight – the fourth best time of the day. Prior to his outing at the Texas Relays, Donald had a previous best in the event of 52.08. His time ranks eighth in the Arkansas record books.
Junior distance runner Aidan Swain completed the day for the Razorbacks with a 23 second personal best in the 5K placing eighth in a field of 20.
Arkansas will have a full day of competition tomorrow at Mike A. Myers Stadium with competitors in the 100-meter dash, 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, 4×100-meter relay, sprint medley relay, long jump, triple jump and discus throw.
The Razorbacks will also begin competition on the West coast at the Stanford Invitational taking on the 1,500- meter run, 5K and 10K starting at 3:10 p.m. CST. Start lists and results for the Stanford Invitational can be found at the meet info page.
