FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Following an off weekend, the No. 8 Arkansas men’s track and field team returns to competition this weekend at home at the Randal Tyson Track Center and in Ames, Iowa at the Lied Recreational Center. The Razorbacks will take on both the Tyson Invitational and the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 12-13.

USTFCCCA WEEK THREE RANKINGS

Arkansas continues to impress through each week improving from their No. 11 preseason spot to No. 8 in the latest USTFCCCA rankings. Seven out of the top 10 teams in the country will be in action at the Tyson Invitational. Along with the Razorbacks, NCAA top-10 programs represented at Tyson will include: No. 1 Florida, No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 4 LSU, No. 5 Texas, No. 7 Tennessee and No. 9 TCU. A total of 14 nationally ranked programs will look to secure top performances this weekend at the ‘Fastest Indoor Track in the World.’

ALL EYES ON…

Bowerman Watch List member Jarrion Lawson will look to help his team move up the performance list in the 4×400-meter relay which will be his sole focus on the track. One of the strongest competitors on the track and in the field, Lawson also will attempt to mark his first 27-foot jump of the season in the invitational section of the long jump on Friday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.

One of the best sprinters in the country this season, Kenzo Cotton continues to progress at a rapid rate. Through two meets, Cotton raced to a personal best at 60 meters (6.64) and in the 200-meter dash (20.78). Cotton is one of only 10 sprinters this year to run a sub-21.00 second time at 200 meters.

The 400-meter dash will feature several Razorbacks including All-Americans Eric Janise and Marqueze Washington. Janise and Washington will be joined by a pair of talented underclassmen in Obi Igbokwe and Jamarco Stephen. Stephen’s personal best of 46.85 earned him a spot inside the NCAA top 20 at 400 meters.

SEC triple jump leader Clive Pullen plans to carry the momentum from his huge PR at the Razorback Invitational into this week’s competition. Pullen will contend with Baylor standout Felix Obi who currently holds the third best mark in the event among collegians.

Carlton Orange has proved himself to be one of the freshmen to watch this season after running the seventh best time in the country at 800 meters. Orange currently has the third best performance at 800 meters in the SEC.

Arkansas will look to improve in another relay this weekend as they take on the DMR at the Iowa State Classic. The Razorbacks have qualified and placed a relay team at nationals over the last few years and plan on maintaining that trend starting with a qualifying time. Already ranked eighth in the NCAA in the DMR, the Razorbacks plan to move up the performance list with a strong showing in Ames this weekend.

The Tyson Invitational can be viewed via live stream on SEC Network+ on Friday, Feb. 12 from 5-7p.m. and on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 12:30-5 p.m.
