No. 9 Razorbacks Set for Hurricane Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.– The No. 9 Arkansas women’s cross country team is set to begin its 2018 season Saturday, Sept. 1 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Hurricane Invitational.

The Razorbacks head into the new year ranked No. 1 in the South Central region, and No. 9 in the country, announced by the USTFCCCA earlier this week. A Southeastern Conference poll of the leagues head coaches was released Monday, unanimously projecting Arkansas to finish first at the 2018 SEC Championships.

The 2017 season concluded with Arkansas taking first place at the SEC Championship as well as the NCAA South Central Regional, with a 13th place finish at the NCAA Championships. Among the top returners from last season are Taylor Werner, Carina Viljoen, Ashton Endsley, Sydney Brown, Devin Clark and 2017 SEC Freshman of the Year Lauren Gregory.

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Tulsa will run alongside Arkansas in Tulsa. The Cowboys are the only other nationally ranked team at this weekend’s meet, coming in at No. 26.

The women’s two-mile race, which will be scored as normal team format and not as a dual meet, is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mohawk Soccer Complex.
