FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 13 Arkansas Razorback men’s cross country team will continue the 2010 season with an 8K race at the Missouri Southern Stampede. The event will take place Saturday, Sept. 18 in Joplin, Mo.
Freshman Omar Abdi, freshman Drew Butler, senior Michael Chinchar, sophomore Cameron Efurd, junior Rick Elliott, sophomore Scott Gillespie, sophomore Michael Golden and sophomore Aaron Hamilton will run for the Razorbacks on Saturday.
In the current USTFCCCA national poll, the Razorbacks continue the season at No. 13. Arkansas is also ranked No. 1 in the South Central Region. Arkansas is the top-seated SEC team in the South Central Region and is the second-highest ranked of the SEC schools in the national poll.
The Razorbacks won the Sept. 3 Arkansas Invitational with a perfect score of 15. Senior Michael Chinchar took the individual title in the 6,600K race.
With a runner-up finish, Lane Boyer paced the Razorbacks to their second team title of the season at the 2009 Missouri Southern Stampede. The Razorbacks outscored second-place finisher Pittsburgh State, 48-131. Arkansas scored three runners in the top 10, five in the top 18 and all finishers in the top 28.
Boyer was the runner-up in the 8,000-meter race. He clocked a time of 23:23.05. Solomon Haile was the second Razorback to cross the finish line and was eighth overall. He clocked a time of 24:01.79. Rick Elliott was 12th overall and the third Razorback finisher. He clocked a 24:09.58. Cameron Efurd was fourth among the Hogs and 19th overall with his 8,000-meter time of 24:35.56. Michael Chinchar rounded out the Razorback scoring five with a 22nd-place finish and a time of 24:46.61.
