No. 15 Track and Field Set for John Jacobs Invitational at OU

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A majority of the Arkansas Lady Razorback track and field roster will travel to Norman, Okla. for the John Jacobs Invitational this weekend. Head coach Lance Harter will rest his distance runners and the sprinters, jumpers and throwers will compete in Norman.

Also competing in Norman will be the hosting Sooners, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, SMU, TCU, UT-Arlington, Tulsa, Manhattan College and Wyoming.

Arkansas will send 19 athletes to compete in 13 events in Norman. Field events will begin at 10 a.m. and running events will follow at 1 p.m. Live results will be available at www.soonersports.com.

The Lady’Backs are only three competitions into the season and the regional-qualifying marks are already piling up. UA has recorded 19 regional-qualifying marks in 11 events with only two of those marks as repeat performances.

Additionally, Denise Bargiachi, Miranda Walker and Peter-Gaye Beckford have hit the NCAA provisional-qualifying marks in the 10,000 meters and the heptathlon, respectively.

Of the nine harriers that traveled to Stanford last weekend, eighth of them made it back to Fayetteville with a qualifying mark. The Lady’Backs found regional-qualifying marks in the 1,500 meters (Dacia Barr), the 3,000-meter steeplechase (Megan Jackson, Caroline Peyton and Tiffany Redlarczyk) and the 5,000 meters (Christine Kalmer and Catherine White). Additionally, Bargiachi and Walker dipped below the NCAA provisional-qualifying mark in the 10,000 meters.

The Lady’Backs also collected six regional-qualifying marks and an NCAA provisional-qualifying mark (Beckford, heptathlon) during their events at Texas Relays.
