No. 18 Razorbacks Cruise by College of Charleston in Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — No. 18 Arkansasturned the ball over 26 times, including 17 times in the first half, but the Razorbacks limited the College of Charleston to28.6 percent shooting to get a 75-49 victory Thursday in the first round of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Puerto Rico Tip-Off at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico.

Despite the turnovers, Arkansas dominated the boards, 53-27, and shot 46.7 percent from the floor in pulling away forthevictory. Arkansas (2-0) faces Providence in the second round at 4:30 p.m. on Friday in a game televised by ESPNU. The Friars (1-0) beat Temple, 66-64, in another first round game.

The Razorbacks scored the first 11 points of the game with College of Charleston getting on the board for the first time at the 11:35 mark. The Cougars got within 28-25, but Vincent Hunter hit a three with 46 seconds to go and Gary Ervin scored on a driving layup at the buzzer for a 33-25 lead at the break.

CC got within 33-29 in the second period, but the Hogs scored 13 straight, six by Patrick Beverly and four by Sonny Weems, to take command at 46-29 with 15:35 left.

Beverley scored a game-high 16 points. Darian Townes had 11 and Weems 10, all in the second half. Hunter had a game-high 10 rebounds.

Dustin Scott led College of Charleston with 12 points.
