No. 3 Razorbacks Set to Host Arkansas Twilight Meet

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas men’s track and field team is set to host the Arkansas Twilight meet Friday night at John McDonnell Field. While the sprinters and field athletes compete at home, select members of the distance crew will travel to the Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. This weekend is the final weekend of competition leading up to the Southeastern Conference Championships, May 15-18 in Lexington, Ky. Eight teams will join the No. 3 Razorbacks at John McDonnell Field on Friday: Arkansas Baptist, Central Arkansas, Northwood, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma City University, Tulsa and UMKC. The one-day meet is scheduled to begin with field events at 11 a.m., with running events slated for a 6 p.m. start. Arkansas Twilight Meet Schedule Flash Results Meet Notes Razorback Track & Field on Twitter This past weekend at the Drake Relays, Arkansas was crowned the Co-Champions of the HyVee Cup, a team award given to the overall top-finishing relay teams. The men’s 4×400 relay team brought home the win with a thrilling event to close the day’s competition. The winning time of 3:03.89 was a season-best for the Razorbacks, ranking fifth in the nation and fourth in the SEC. The first-place time moves Jarrion Lawson, Travis Southard, Omar McLeod and Neil Braddy into the No. 7 spot all-time in Arkansas history. In addition, Anthony May had his best performance of the season starting off with a win in the high jump competition at a mark of 7-3.75, the second-best performance of his outdoor career. The victory height moves May into second place in the Southeastern Conference and ties for No. 3 in the nation. After winning the team’s first event title of the meet, May moved over to the triple jump where he leaped to a nation-leading mark of 53-0.75 on this second attempt. The personal-best jump was good for a second-place finish and takes down his previous personal-best jump of 51-2.
