FAYETTEVILLE – For the second time in a week, the No. 7 Arkansas University men’s golf team will head to the state of Illinois when it opens play at the Windon Memorial Classic on Sunday at The Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Ill. The two-day event, which features a 16-team field, will open on Sunday with 36 holes, as the Razorbacks will play alongside host Northwestern, No. 22 Kent State and Ohio State. The quartet of teams will begin on holes 1-5 with a shotgun start set for 8 a.m. Live scoring is available through www.GolfStat.com or www.ArkansasRazorbacks.com, while in-round twitter updates can be found by following @RazorbackMGolf. Arkansas’ took the team title at the Windon Memorial Classic in 2011, its only other appearance in the event. En route to winning the 2011 title, Arkansas posted the best 36-hole team score (550) in the 26-year history of Windon Memorial Classic and the second-best single-round score (274). The Razorbacks are coming off a fourth place finish at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, which featured eight top 25 teams, including four in the top 10. Four of the five members of last weekend’s lineup return, as seniors Sebastian Cappelen and Blake Biddle, redshirt sophomore Kolton Crawford and sophomore Taylor Moore will play in their second tournament. Junior Thomas Sorensen will make his first appearance of the season. Moore was Arkansas’ top finisher at the Olympia Fields Invite, tying for fourth place for the first top five of his career. The reigning SEC Co-Freshman of the Year was the Razorbacks’ low-man for the second time in his career, finishing off a career-best finish with a one-under 69 on the difficult Olympia Fields Country Club layout. One of Golf World’s Top 50 Players to Watch, Cappelen finished in the top 20 for the fifth consecutive tournament last weekend with a 12th place showing. Biddle made his first appearance as a Razorback last weekend in his home state, carding an even-par 70 in the final round to finish in a tie for 29th. Crawford returned to the lineup for the first time since 2011-12, when he was an SEC All-Freshman team selection, and tied for 39th position. Located on 240 rolling acres, The Knollwood Club has hosted both the USGA’s Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championships and will play at a length of 7,202 yards as a par 72. It marks the first time The Knollwood Club has hosted the Windon Memorial since 2000, when Hunter Mahan won the individual title. Current PGA TOUR members Tiger Woods, Luke Donald, Joe Ogilvie, Gary Woodland and Ben Curtis have finished as runners-up at the event.
