No. 8 Arkansas opens SEC on floor

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Arkansas’ eighth-ranked gymnastics team opens on floor in Saturday’s SEC Gymnastics Championship meet, the Razorbacks learned on Friday in Jacksonville, Fla.

Arkansas and the other six SEC programs participated in a draw between Friday’s practice sessions. Senior All-American Casey Jo Magee took part in the draw with the Razorbacks picking sixth overall.

"Floor has been a strong event for us," co-head coach René Cook said. "You have to perform on all the events anyway. We’ll start on floor and get the meet going. It’s going to be a great meet. We’re looking forward to it."

Magee’s pick revealed Arkansas would open with the floor event at 3:05 p.m. Following floor, Arkansas has a bye, then moves to vault, followed by bars, another bye and then beam.

ESPN2 airs a tape-delay broadcast on April 4 at 10 a.m.

In the NCAA Session II championship last year, Arkansas opened with a bye and competed first on floor. The Razorbacks responded by advancing to their first NCAA Super Six, where they again opened with a bye before competing on floor and finishing fifth in the nation.
