FAYETTEVILLE — The No.9 University of Arkansas women’s cross country team will put its perfect score streak on the line at the 25th Annual Chile Pepper Festival at Agri Park in Fayetteville, Ark. The event features two squads in the USTFCCCA top-15 rankings and more than 45 collegiate teams. Previously, the Razorback have recorded two perfect scores in the opening Razorback Duals meet against Missouri and Missouri Southern. Arkansas also took the first eight spots across the finish line at the Aztec Invitational to record their third perfect score of the year. Villanova is currently No. 12 in the USTFCCCA Rankings and holds the No. 3 spot in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Alongside Arkansas, there will be two other regionally ranked teams from the South Central Region, Baylor, the host of the 2013 NCAA South Central Regional, is currently No. 5 in the region followed by the University of Central Arkansas ranked at No. 13. Villanova also brings the field’s top finisher in the 2012 NCAA Division I Cross Country National Championships in Emily Lipari, who finished 25th. Arkansas will feature junior Grace Heymsfield who finished in 55th in the championship meet a season ago. Other notable teams in the field include Dallas Baptist, Florida A&M, Harding, LSU, North Texas, Oral Roberts, TCU, Louisiana-Monroe and Oklahoma.
