Nunn Lady'Backs second after first round in Texas

Jump today oneresults AUSTIN, Texas – University of Arkansas sophomore Lucy Nunn fired a two-under 70 leading the 25th-ranked Lady Razorback golf team to a tie for second after first round action at the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin, Texas, Friday. Nunn started her day with a birdie on the first hole and remained under par all day falling to as much as three under before finishing with a two-under 70. She is in second place trailing Texas’ Kelley Lough with a three-under 69. “Lucy played really, really well,” said Arkansas assistant coach Shauna Estes. “Conditions were tough today and it was really windy.” Arkansas junior Stacy Lewis finished the day tied for 13th overall with a plus four 76 finishing with an eagle and birdie coming in. Junior Ashley Medders is tied fo24th overall with a 78, followed by freshmen Kristin Ingram and Alex Schulte who are tied for 54th with 82s. Freshman Corinna Rees is 84th overall with an 89 playing as an individual. Arkansas’ round of 306 is just three strokes out of first place currently held by host and 95th-ranked Texas on the University of Texas Golf Course. Arkansas is tied with No. 28 TCU in second with 306 followed by No. 15 Purdue with 307 and No. 49 Southern Methodist rounds out the top five with 313. Number 75 Iowa, No. 85 Iowa State and No. 67 Notre Dame are all tied for sixth with 314 with No. 54 Nebraska in ninth place with a 315. Number 85 Penn State (316), No. 59 Oklahoma (316), No. 45 Baylor (317), No. 92 Kansas (323), Texas B (323) and No 120 Minnesota (328) round out the 15-team field. “We played the back side really well,” said Estes. “We were able to fight through some things out on the course today, and played well coming in. We’ve put ourselves in a position to finish well if we continue to play like this.” Arkansas has two days remaining in the tournament.
