Nunn Lewis tee it up Friday

ROGERS, Ark. – University of Arkansas senior-to-be Lucy Nunn gets her first shot at an LPGA title as she takes part in the P&G Beauty NW Arkansas Championship alongside former Razorback teammate Stacy Lewis Friday-Sunday at Pinnacle Country Club. Nunn, a Lawton, Okla., native earned a spot in the event by way of a qualifier Monday where she was the top finisher with a two-under 70. It is the first LPGA event she’s participated in. Nunn is coming off her best collegiate season. She averaged 75.69 strokes per round and had one top 10 and two top 20 finishes. In addition, Nunn rallied at the 2008 NCAA Championships in the middle rounds helping Arkansas to a program-best finish. Lewis, who graduated in May after leading Arkansas to an eighth-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Championships, recently turned professional and is playing in her second NW Arkansas Championship. Also on an exemption in 2007’s inaugural event, Lewis battled the course, the players and the weather but came out on top with a seven-under 65. Rain washed out the second and third rounds and the event did not count. Lewis kicks things off at 7:15 a.m. at Pinnacle Friday. She is paired with Paige Mackenzie and Moira Dunn on the first hole. Nunn is in the final group teeing off at 2:11 p.m. from the 10th tee with Jackie Gallagher-Smith and Marisa Baena. For more information about Arkansas golf, please log on to LADYBACKS.COM.
