FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Houston Nutt and the Arkansas Razorbacks finished their Wednesday practice going long and hard. Head coach Houston Nutt was pleased with the practice that saw first team against first team.
“We had a good long practice today,” Nutt said. “We went good on good today – good defense against good offense, and not tackling to the ground but full speed. We tried to run a few plays from the Alabama game plan and really tried to mix that in on both sides of the ball.”
The younger guys were able to see some action today as well. The freshmen, redshirts and the practice squad guys went at it hard, drawing attention from Nutt.
“Michael Robinson is really showing up and John Jackson had a good interception,” Nutt said. “Cedric Washington has been making some plays and you can see what kind of athlete he is.”
The punt return practice showed that Nutt might take the redshirt off of Washington and allow him to return punts in the very near future.
“If he is the guy we’ll take the shirt off of him,” Nutt said. “If he is the best of eleven, we’re going to put him out there. That’s a big play and that’s also where you miss Marvin Jackson. I’ve talked to him and he’s very unselfish and said he’ll play.”
