O'Connor named SEC Offensive Player of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Sophomore Kelly O’Connor has been selected the SEC Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday. O’Connor posted two goals and an assist over the weekend as Arkansas competed in the 2008 adidas Gamecock Classic in Jacksonville, Ala. She is the second player in program history to earn offensive conference honors (Julie Williford – 2003).

O’Connor had her first career two-goal performance Sept. 5 against host-team Jacksonville State in the Razorbacks’ 4-0 win. Against Samford in the tournament finale, she tallied an assist on the game-winning goal that gave Arkansas the 1-0 double-overtime victory. For her efforts, O’Connor earned all-tournament recognition and was named the tournament’s Offensive MVP.

The Bentonville, Ark., native is tied for the SEC lead with three goals and seven points. O’Connor has registered at least one point in three-consecutive games and is tied for sixth place in the conference with 1.40 points per game. In 17 career games at Arkansas, O’Connor has collected 22 points—nine goals and four assists.

O’Connor and the Razorback soccer team return to action this weekend with a pair of road matches at Austin Peay and Stephen F. Austin. For more details and news about UA soccer, visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
