Offense prepares for Senior Night

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas football team practiced Tuesday inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in its preparations for Texas-El Paso. The Razorbacks, ranked 14th in the latest AP poll, bring a 7-2 (4-2, SEC) record to the Miners (6-4, 3-4, CUSA) with the Senior Night-matchup set to kick off Saturday at 6 p.m. UA is coming off a 41-20 victory at then-18th-ranked South Carolina last Saturday.

Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Garrick McGee explained that the Razorback offense has set its priorities clearly for the coming week of workouts.

"We talked about our goals for the week yesterday as an offense," Coach McGee said. "The first goal, and the most important thing for us, is to get to number eight. That’s the bottom line. We need to win our eighth game, and then the second goal that we have is to send our seniors out of here the right way. And what I mean by that is playing the game the right way. Coming out and executing our offense and understanding the plays and playing at a high level."

Prior to the UA-UTEP game’s kickoff, Arkansas will recognize its 21 seniors playing their last on-campus game. The senior class has played for a Razorback squad that completed just the second perfect season against the Southeastern Conference’s Eastern Division opponents in program history.

"For some of these guys, they’re seniors and this is the last time they’ll play on this field," Coach McGee said. "It’s probably a really emotional time for them. I just want them to come out play the right way so they remember their last game as us executing at a really high level."

Coach McGee noted that Tuesday’s practice was business as usual for the Razorbacks.

"At this point, they know how to work," Coach McGee said. "They know what we expect from them. They come out with a good attitude. This a good team with really good character and good leadership."
