Ole Miss Snaps Streak in 73-70 Win over Arkansas

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – Londrick Nolen scored 20 points and Mississippi snapped a seven-game losing streak by beating Arkansas 73-70 on Wednesday night.

Bam Doyne gave Ole Miss a three-point lead when he made a free throw with 9 seconds left. The Razorbacks had one last chance to force overtime, but Jonathon Modica missed a 3-pointer with 3 seconds remaining.

Dwayne Curtis had 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Rebels (14-10, 4-7 Southeastern Conference), who won for the first time since a 75-65 victory over rival Mississippi State on Jan. 14.

Nolen was 8-of-11 shooting with eight rebounds and three assists.

Ronnie Brewer and Modica had 16 points apiece to lead Arkansas (16-8, 5-6), and Eric Ferguson added 15 points.

The Razorbacks have lost five conference road games by a combined 11 points, including their last three away from Fayetteville by a combined six points.

Ole Miss shot better than 46 percent, outrebounded Arkansas 43-37 and held the Razorbacks to less than 40 percent shooting.

Arkansas led 42-37 with less than 17 minutes to play before Ole Miss rallied. Nolen’s tip-in with 15:39 to play came during an 8-0 run and gave the Rebels the lead for good.

Ole Miss led by as many as nine with 2:28 remaining, but poor free-throw shooting allowed Arkansas to make a late push. The Rebels missed five foul shots down the stretch.

Arkansas pulled to 71-70 when Vincent Hunter put back an offensive rebound with 13 seconds to play.
