Former sprint national champion and four-time All-American while at Arkansas, Veronica Campbell-Brown will be a member of Team Jamaica at the Olympic Games for the third time in her career.
She will compete in the 200 meters and the 4×100-meter relay in Beijing.
Campbell-Brown became the first Razorback women’s Olympic gold medalist in school history at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. She was a winner at 200 meters and was also a member of Jamaica’s gold medal-winning 4×100-meter relay team.
She added one more piece of hardware in 2004; bronze at 100 meters. Add these to her silver finish in the 4×100-meter relay in Sydney in 2000, and Campbell-Brown becomes a four-time Olympic medalist and only Razorback woman to ever win multiple gold medals.
Campbell-Brown made the most of her lone year as a Razorback in 2004. She was the NCAA Indoor Champion at 200 meters and was named an All-American four times. She captured three SEC titles in that season and set six UA school records in the process.
Aside from Olympic competition during her post-collegiate career, Campbell-Brown has been a five-time world championship medalist. Twice she won silver at Helsinki in 2005 and was a three-time medalist at Osaka in 2007—including a gold medal finish at 100 meters.
Veronica Campbell Brown will begin the rounds of 200 meters in Beijing Tuesday, Aug. 19 and 4×100-meter relay Thursday, Aug. 21.
