Oparenovic Ready For NCAAs

ATHENS, Ga. — Arkansas sophomore Ana Oparenovic will open competition for the Razorbacks at the NCAA singles championship in the round of 64 at 7 a.m. CT Wednesday.

Oparenovic, who is ranked No. 64 nationally, is set to face No. 40 Estela Perez-Somarriba of the Miami Hurricanes at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus.

Originally selected as the first alternate in the singles bracket, Oparenovic enters the postseason with 15 overall singles wins, including nine at the No. 2 spot this spring and four against ranked opponents.

Senior co-captain Shannon Hudson will also represent the Razorbacks. Originally scheduled for 5 p.m. CT Wednesday, Hudson’s first-round match against No. 38-ranked Caroline Doyle of national runner-up Stanford has been moved to 4 p.m. CT Wednesday.

Oparenovic and Hudson will become Arkansas’ 15th and 16th all-time NCAA singles championship participants and will compete in the event for the first in their careers.
