Orange Gets the Gold at Pan Am Juniors

EDMONTON, Canada – Arkansas signee Carlton Orange capped his high school career with a gold medal performance at the 2015 Pan Am Junior Championships in the 800-meter run for team USA.

Orange secured his spot on the national team after crossing the finish line first in a career best 1:47.65 at the 2015 USATF Junior Championships. His new PR eclipsed his previous best which he ran at the 2015 Nike Festival of Miles by almost a full three seconds.

Entered as the number one seed in the event at the Pan Am Juniors, Orange finished in first place with 1:50.65 in the first section of the semifinals to advance to the final round.

Carried out on the first lap by Robert Heppenstall and Shane Dillon of Canada Orange maintained pace with the front of the pack coming through at about 52 seconds for his first 400 meter split. Increasing his speed at the 600-meter mark the Memphis native showed his speed endurance out-kicking the field to claim the victory in 1:48.06.

Eager to begin his career as a Razorback, Orange will be pursuing a degree in business alongside his athletic development.
