Overstreet Set To Compete At NCAA Championship

Live Scoring

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas freshman Mason Overstreet travels to the NCAA National Championship this weekend to compete as an individual at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois.

Of the six individuals in the field, Overstreet is the only freshman as stroke play begins Friday, May 26 and runs through Monday, May 29. Following three rounds of stroke play, the top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will move to the final round where a National Champion will be crowned.

Overstreet qualified for the NCAA National Championship after finishing sixth in the Baton Rouge Regional following a final round 5-under 67 that featured six birdies. He moved 27 spots up the leaderboard on the final day and posted the best finish of his collegiate career.

He becomes the fourth individual in school history to advance to the National Championship, joining R.H. Sikes in 1963, Bud Still in 1995 and Craig Lile in 2000. Sikes captured the program’s only individual NCAA Championship in 1963.

Overstreet enters the NCAA Championship playing the best golf of his career after leading Arkansas individually at both the SEC Championship and the NCAA Regional. He is the first Razorback freshman to finish even par or better at the SEC Championship and now he travels to Rich Harvest Farms looking to earn All-American status.

The Kingfisher, Oklahoma, native will tee off Friday in the morning waive at 8:57 a.m., before coming back Saturday for round two at 2:17 p.m.
