FAYETTEVILLE — Former Arkansas All-SEC selection Zac Painter will serve as the A Club honorary captain for the Arkansas-Louisiana football game on August 31, it was announced on Wednesday. Painter was a four-year letterwinner for the Razorbacks, lettering from 1995-98. Painter’s best season as a Razorback came as a senior in 1998, when he led the team and tied for the SEC lead with five interceptions. His total of five interceptions still ranks tied for the ninth most in a season in school history. Painter also recorded 74 tackles, which ranked second on the team, four tackles for loss, three sacks, seven pass breakups and three forced fumbles, which also led the team. Following his senior year, Painter earned first-team All-SEC honors. As a junior, Painter contributed 43 tackles, including two tackles for loss. Painter also aped an interception and four pass breakups. During his four-year collegiate career, Painter was a member of the 1995 and 1998 SEC Western Division Championship teams and also was a part of two bowl games as a Razorback. Following his collegiate career, Painter was one of two safeties named to the Arkansas All-Decade Team for the 1990s. The A Club honorary captain is recognized before each home game for their outstanding accomplishments on the field during their Razorback career. Each captain will be available for a brief autograph session at the AT&T Fan Zone at The Gardens prior to each game. Before kickoff, they will be recognized and will accompany the captains to midfield for the coin toss.
