Palmer finishes fourth in three meter

Mizzou Invite Day 1 Complete Results

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Arkansas senior diver Madison Palmer finished fourth in the three-meter diving finals at the Mizzou Invite in Columbia, Mo. on Friday night, scoring a 280.80.“Madison had a solid performance today, but it wasn’t enough,” Arkansas diving coach Dale Schultz said. “Consistency from all the girls is something we are still striving for as we work toward the SEC Championships, not only in our meets, but in practice also.”

Also competing in the final session of the day on Friday were swimmers Maddie Fogel and Sarah Rowland. Both Fogel and Rowland swam their season best times in the C heat of the 500 free finals. Fogel finished fourth in 5:14.00 and Rowland was behind her in fifth with a time of 5:15.21.

“Both Maddie and Sarah had season best times in the 500 free today,” Razorbacks assistant coach Todd Mann said. “Both girls are working hard to improve with each meet.”

Fogel also swam in the C heat of the 200 IM finals, touching in fifth in a time of 2:17.64.

Palmer led the Razorback divers in the morning prelims as well, scoring a 285.80 on the three-meter springboard. Kellyn Williams and Alex Roman also competed in the three-meter prelims.

“The prelim performances were not at the level we needed them to be, and we’re going to continue to work hard to improve,” Schultz said.

In the pool in the morning session, Fogel finished 18th in the 500 free prelims, in a time of 5:12.85. In the 200 IM prelims, she came in at 2:17.54, placing 23rd. Rowland also swam in the 500 free preliminary race and finished in 5:21.39, in 24th place. Gina Bargiachi touched in at 27.13 in the prelims of the 50 free, in the 32nd spot.
