FAYETTEVILLE — Alex Perlman will be the voice of the University of Arkansas women’s basketball radio broadcasts, the Razorback Athletics Department announced today. Perlman replaces Andrew Reynolds working with the women’s hoops team as it begins its 25th consecutive year of complete season broadcasts. “We are pleased to welcome Alex to our women’s basketball radio team,” said Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long. “Alex is an experienced play-by-play announcer and will be a great addition to our broadcasts. I know our fans will enjoy listening to him as he brings the excitement of Razorback women’s basketball to fans throughout the season.” Perlman joins the Razorbacks after two seasons working as the University of South Florida Athletics Broadcast Coordinate for IMG Media. While with the Bulls, Perlman provided color and handled sideline duties at football games, was the play-by-play voice for women’s basketball and baseball and was the broadcaster for USF volleyball and soccer on the program’s live video streams. In addition, Perlman created and hosted Bulls Gameday, a football pregame show, as well as hosted and produced the university’s coaches shows. Prior to his time at USF, Perlman worked as a broadcasting and media relations assistant for the Charlotte Stone Crabs of the Florida State League (Tampa Bay Rays High-A affiliate). In addition he has worked for Learfield Sports filling in as a basketball play-by-play announcer on the Rockets Sports Radio Network and for WAER Radio as an on-air personality in Syracuse, N.Y. Perlman earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and political science from Syracuse University in December 2010, and will be moving to Northwest Arkansas this fall. This year’s women’s basketball games are currently scheduled to air on 103.7 The Buzz in Little Rock, KQSM-FM 92.1 in Fayetteville, KFPW-FM 94.5 and KFPW-AM 1230 in Fort Smith and KURM-AM 790 in Rogers.
