FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior point guard Jeff Peterson of the University of Arkansas men’s basketball team was one of 26 Razorback student-athletes named to the Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll.
Peterson, a marketing major, maintains a 3.45 grade point average while also starting for the Razorbacks on the hardwood. Last season, Peterson’s first on the court after transferring from Iowa following his sophomore season; he averaged 6.3 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while also assisting on 70 baskets. He started 23 of 29 games played and averaged 21.8 minutes per contest while shooting 39 percent from the floor and 35 percent from three-point range.
Peterson’s SEC Academic honor is his first as a Razorback and second as a collegiate player. He was named to the Academic All-Big 10 honor roll as a sophomore in 2009 when he was with the Hawkeyes.
The SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll consists of athletes from the men’s and women’s basketball teams, gymnastics and swimming and diving squads. To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average, have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours toward a degree and receive either and athletic scholarship or be a member of a varsity team for two years as well as other criteria.
