Petrino presents The Boot; Long gives check to veterans

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Halftime of the Arkansas-Auburn men’s basketball game saw a pair of important presentations from University of Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long and football coach Bobby Petrino.

Petrino and the majority of the 2008 Razorback football team came onto the Bud Walton Arena floor to present Long and the university with The Golden Boot, the large golden trophy in the shape of the states of Arkansas and Louisiana. The winner of the Arkansas-LSU football game claims the Boot.

Immediately thereafter, Long and Petrino presented to the university a $5,000 check for the U.S. Veterans scholarship fund. Members of the UA Army and Air Force ROTC units were on hand to accept the check.

Arkansas’ football team earned Pontiac Game Changing Play of the Week honors for Casey Dick’s last second touchdown to defeat LSU. The play was voted best in the nation for the week by on-line balloting. Razorback fans also voted Arkansas into the finals for play of the year.
