FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas’ soccer team is back in town this week, playing host to LSU on Friday at 7 p.m., and several promotions are scheduled, including the "Razorbacks Kick for the Cure."
The event is part of the Razorbacks Red + White = Pink initiative. In association with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the Red + White = Pink initiative designates five pink home events throughout the season, one for soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, softball and women’s basketball.
The official Red + White = Pink t-shirt serves as a ticket to the five athletic events in Fayetteville. Fans can use the t-shirt for admittance to Friday’s soccer game against LSU, the Feb. 5 gymnastics meet against Oklahoma, the Feb. 16 women’s basketball game against LSU and a softball game in the spring. The volleyball team held its Pink event last week in its straight-set win over Ole Miss.
The Pink t-shirt is available for $15 and a portion of the proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation-Ozark affiliate. The t-shirts are now available at Hog Heaven in Bud Walton Arena and Academy Sports + Outdoors in its Fort Smith and Rogers locations. Fans in attendance Friday can also pledge a dollar amount toward the Foundation at the Susan G. Komen Foundation table in the soccer stadium.
All fans wearing the official Pink t-shirt will be admitted free. In addition, the first 500 fans receive pink wristbands. There’s also the Hogwild Kick for Cash finale at halftime. All nine previous winners from this season are invited back to kick for $1000, rather than the $100 in previous games to qualify for this week’s final. The Jason’s Deli Kids Zone will be available prior to the game and at halftime, and there will be a 10-minute autograph session with the Razorbacks following the game.
