Pisani on community service team

FAYETTEVILLE – Sophomore All-American Jaime Pisani has been named to the Southeastern Conference’s Gymnastics Community Service Team, the league has announced.

The SEC sponsors a Community Service Team for each of the 20 sports it sponsors. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

As a competitor, Pisani earned All-America honors as a freshman on vault, bars and floor, and was a two-time SEC Freshman Gymnast of the Week. She helped Arkansas win the NCAA South Central Regional, advance to the NCAA Championship for the third time, reach the Super Six for the first time and finish fifth in the nation. She has 17 individual event wins this year and 30 for her career. Pisani has helped Arkansas rank in the top 10 all season in 2010. The Razorbacks are currently No. 8 in the country and in Jacksonville for the SEC Championship.

She has tied the school-record score of 9.95 on floor and the second-best score of 9.95 on vault. Her top all-around score of 39.595 equals the fifth-best marks in Razorback history.

Out of the gym, she has been a member of Arkansas’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for two years. She has participated in various activities, including the Book Hogs Reading program, where student-athletes read at local elementary schools; the Shop with a Razorback Program at Toys-R-Us, which is for area children during Christmas; the Sweat Hogs program, where student-athletes discuss with area children the importance of being active and fit; the Lift Up America event, where donated food items were distributed to area agencies; the SEC Together We Can food drive, the Angel Tree for the Salvation Army project, Boy Scouts Day at Barnhill Arena, where student-athletes signed autographs and posed for pictures; the Birthday Party with the Gym’Backs function and visiting kindergarten classes.

Academically, she was named to the 2009 National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women Academic Team and has twice been named to Arkansas’ Athletic Director’s List.
