Poppell adds six to swim and dive team

FAYETTEVILLE – Fifth-year head coach Jeff Poppell announced six new additions to the University of Arkansas swimming and diving team beginning in 2011.

Poppell and the Razorbacks welcome Allison Boyle, Susanna White, Taylor Temple, Nicole Daniels, Tera Bradham and Gabrijela Korac.

"I am very excited about the addition of this recruiting class to our team next year," Poppell said. "These girls possess a great deal of enthusiasm, drive, and commitment and represent the great character kids we want in our program. In the swimming pool, they each will be able to contribute immediately in areas of need to help our team be the strongest we have ever had at Arkansas and allow us to continue to climb the SEC and national rankings."

ALLISON BOYLE – Columbia, Mo. – Distance FreestyleAllison Boyle holds the school record in the 500 free and the 400 free relay at Rock Bridge High School. She clocked a career best time of 10:13.37 in the 1,000 free event.

Poppell on Boyle…"Alison is truly a diamond in the rough and has been on my radar for a while. I feel that she has a great deal of upside potential and will have the opportunity to develop to the fullest as a member of our distance freestyle group. She is an extremely hard worker, smart and very coachable. I look forward to the opportunity of working with her throughout her career at Arkansas. She is also a tremendous student and will help us continue the strong academic tradition of our program."

SUSANNA WHITE – Forest, Va. – Sprint FreestyleSusanna White clocked her fastest time in the 100 free with a time of 50.90 seconds. Her most recent notable time on a long course came in the 50 free when she stopped the clock at 26.66.

Poppell on White…"Susanna established herself as one of the top sprint freestyle swimmers in the nation this past summer at the U.S. Junior National Championships in Irvine, Calif. She has also demonstrated a great deal of versatility by her strong performances in both the breaststroke and 200 individual medley events as well. We are very fortunate to have Susanna join us next year as she will contribute immediately and in a big way for our program both in individual events as well as on relays. She is a very enthusiastic, energetic, and positive individual and will fit great with the chemistry of our team."

TAYLOR TEMPLE – Carrollton, Texas – Breaststroke/ButterflyTaylor Temple is an individual district champion in the 100 breaststroke each of her first three years at Hebron High School. She also collected a district title in the 200 IM as a junior, and the 100 fly her freshman and sophomore seasons. Temple has garnered 12 All-American awards with her club team and holds four school records at HHS.

Poppell on Temple…"Taylor is going to be an instrumental part of our team’s success over the next four years. I truly feel that she has an opportunity to be a major player for us in the breaststroke events while also providing our squad with strength and depth in the butterfly events. She is a super kid, with a great deal of energy, and is very excited about being a Razorback. We can’t wait to have her join us next fall."

NICOLE DANIELS – Wichita, Kan. – BreaststrokeNicole (Nikki) Daniels was honored as an all-American each of her first three years at Wichita Northwest High School. She was also named first team all-state as a junior and sophomore. She currently holds five records at her high school, including the 100 breast and 100 fly.

Poppell on Daniels…"Nikki will have an opportunity to help us immediately in the breaststroke events and compete for spots on our relays as well. She brings with her a great deal of athleticism as well a very strong drive and commitment to improve herself as a swimmer. I feel that her best years are still ahead of her as she has a great deal of untapped potential. She is an outstanding student in the classroom as well and will be a fantastic representative for our program in the years to come."

TERA BRADHAM – Round Rock, Texas – IMTera Bradham has broken and currently holds six Texas age-group state records. She has received all-American honors for her school record-breaking efforts in the 100 breast, 200 IM and the 200 medley relay.

Poppell on Bradham…"Tera is a terrific young lady with an incredible work ethic, a strong commitment to her academics as well as her swimming, and possesses a very high level of enthusiasm. She will bring a great deal of versatility to this program and will be able to help us in multiple events throughout her career at Arkansas. She is driven to reach the highest levels of our sport and feels confident that Arkansas is the place to help her get there. We look forward to having her as a Razorback."

GABRIJELA KORAC – Zagreb, Croatia – BreaststrokeGabrijela Korac marks a personal-best time of 1:10.22 in the 100m breaststroke. Her best time in the 200m breast event came at the Croatian Championships where she stopped the clock at 2:36.20.

Poppell on Korac…"Gabi is one of the top breaststroke swimmers in Croatia and she brings valuable international experience to our program. We will look to her to help provide strength in the breaststroke events and compete for a spot on the medley relays. She is delightful and enthusiastic, a very strong student, and very excited to be Razorback."
