Poppell announces 2010-11 schedule

FAYETTEVILLE— Arkansas swimming and diving head coach Jeff Poppell has announced the Razorbacks competition schedule for the 2010-11 season. The Hogs compete in 13 regular season duals and host four before heading to the Southeast Conference Championships in February.The Razorbacks kick off the season Oct. 8, as they take on the North Texas Relays in Denton, Texas, followed by duals against UNT and Tulane the following day. Arkansas defeated UNT in 2009 with a final score of 192-206. The first home match for the Razorbacks is Nov. 5, against Missouri and SEC foe, South Carolina. Last year, Missouri was ranked 25th going into the dual and topped the 18th-ranked Hogs 177-118. The Gamecocks finished ninth in the 2010 SEC Championships while Arkansas claimed sixth place. Arkansas competes at the Purdue Invitational for the second year in a row after claiming third place a year ago. The fall portion of the schedule finishes with a dual against BYU on Dec. 3 and Utah on the following day.Picking back up in January, the Razorbacks make the trip to Lawrence, Kan., Jan. 13, to face the Jayhawks before hosting University of Houston and Drury on Jan. 21 and 29, respectively. Postseason begins with the Missouri Grand Prix in Columbia, Mo., and the SEC Diving Championships, Feb. 11-13, while the swimming portion of the championships will be held Feb. 16-19, both in Gainesville, Fla.
